EDIT: It was primarily a Parallels VM issue. (See below in this post.)
Hello,
is it possible to have drag&drop do a move operation when dragging to local drives, my (local) network, and OneDrive (which keeps a copy on local disk), but always do Copy to FTP. The logic would be that for storage items that I have physical access to, it will always move, but for Internet location / actually remote locations, it will not move but copy.
Background: A few days ago I configures DOpus to do a move operation even when dragging to an external drive in order to avoid accidental duplication of large amounts of stuff when dragging (I move stuff in 99% of cases, and don't copy). But when I put something to my FTP storage, I do NOT want it to be deleted from my local drive. That happened today as I didn't expect the change that I made to also affect FTP.
Is this possible?
Might be possible with @ifpath or scripting, but I suspect it would only affect the action on the drop and leave the visual feedback about what will happen out of sync.
for me it was quickly gotten used to.
i'm used to dedicated FTP clients for the most part but use DO for certain tasks.
i just don't treat them in the same way.
that is just me however. i can see how what you are looking for could suit folk.
The main reason I was requesting this was because the visual feedback on modifier-altered drag-and-drop operations is incorrect on my Win 11 ARM VM (parallels). Once that problem is solved and there is visual feedback, the request in the above thread is no longer as relevant I think.
Since that looks like Microsoft's bug, it may be a while before there's a solution, unless someone writes a magazine article about it (seems the only way to make MS care about Windows bugs these days).
There is an option "optimize keyboard for games". This causes press-and-hold of modifiers to actually keep them pressed for the full period of them being physically pressed. According to Parallels help file, that option might cause some shortcuts to not work thougth.
With "optimize keyboard for games" disabled, pressing of a modifier will cause it to be virtually only pressed for a split second at those momemts where it matters, such as release of mouse button. As a result, effects that last over a period of time, such as changes of mouse pointer, do not show, leading to false information being suggested to the user.
Note that this means that in Parallels, any feature that requires permanent press of a modifier - in particular when required permanently during ongoing mouse movement, will not work. I am not sure if this affects DOpus functionality beyond the relatively trivial issue of wrong popup info which can be mitigated by memorizing what is actually going to happen.
