Drive Toolbar in DOpus 13 and tooltip info

Hi, all.

Long time user of DOpus here, but only a recent convert to version 13. Been using it since around 2008 and just switched from version 9....at last.

I have a question though, unsurprisingly.

In version 9, the drive toolbar just consisted of drive icons (reflective of the type of drive), and when hovering over a drive icon on the drive bar, the tooltip displayed the disk label along with space info.

In 13, that isn't the case. It just shows the space info. The closest I can find is editing the buttons and adding the drive labels to the buttons themselves.

That's fine, I guess, if you only have a few partitions/drives. I have a lot though. Fixed drives count as C,D,E,F,G,H,M,Y,Z. Now plug in a four partition 5TB external drive and maybe a couple of other USB keys, and you can guess the issue. Total text overload of the drive toolbar.

Is there any way to edit the tooltips to reflect the old behaviour (which totally avoids this issue)?

Cheers,

Mark

It shows the labels here in 13.14.9.

Have a look:

Odd. All I get is this:

Drivebar Tooltip

Probably worth adding that, even if I untick 'Show label:' in the button editor, I still have the label on the toolbar...

Could it be something odd caused by my v9 settings being imported when upgrading...?

Ah, got it.

The issue was having labels set to on in the Customise dialog for the drive bar, as in:

Changed thast to 'Default' and it works...

:sparkles: Is this tooltip provided by DOpus?
In this earlier thread, it says the tooltips are provided by Windows and can't be changed.
Has there been an update, or is that just what the tooltips look like on Windows 11?

If it's provided by Windows: how does it know whether the toolbar buttons themselves have labels enabled or not (so as to show the volume label in the tooltip if it's not enabled on the button itself)? Is the whole thing a Windows... widget, or ARE there predefined ways of deciding what's shown where? In which case: Can we please have a way exposed to decide whether or not to show volume letters and labels in the tooltip, irrespective of what the button label does? And any other things that might be configurable?
