Dual display - lock view, tree and middle folder panel, Favorites working on the 2nd panel

Up front, I don't know if it is possible. Two questions about dual display.

Folder tree: is locked, the middle folder pane is locked, the right one is not.

  1. when switching from Explorer > Images view, the dual display is gone, i.e. it switches to 'Single Display' (folder tree is locked, I get 1 unlocked.. display in image view)

Q: Is it possible to have image view on the active display only, leaving the locked folder tree and panel untouched?

Right now I need to:

  • re-activate dual display
  • swap the panels, so I get details view in the middle again
  • lock middle folder panel (became unlocked)
  • resize the folder tree to what it was before clicking on the Image tab

this also relates to my 2nd question.

Q2: After having set the sizes to both the folder tree and the middle folders panel (specifically the widths) and after locking those, leaving the 2nd folder panel (right) unlocked, is there a way to have them indeed firmly locked, so they will not change, no matter what.
After all, they have been locked.

Background: I need to move sub folders (from the middle display) to folders in the folder tree.
However, in the right folder display, I may need to view the contents first (ordinary files or images), rename files or delete, without changing the view of the folder tree and middle display.

Thanks.

Q1: You can edit what the Images style affects via Preferences / Layouts and Styles / Styles.

Q2: There's no way to lock the size of things. Whichever lock you're referring to is locking something else, not the sizes, and should probably be turned off again (unless you want the effect it has; but make sure you know what that is first).

  • The format lock prevents the folder format from changing when you change folders.

  • The tree lock prevents selection and expansion changes in the tree when changing folders.

  • The viewer pane lock prevents the viewer pane from changing which file it displays when you select other files.

Thanks!
As for Q2: I let it rest then, it is an 'area' I am totally not familiar with.
(To be honest: I've been using this 'lock' tree/folders thing since a few days only)

As for Q1: Ehm... Should I be changing something in here?

"File Display: Single" is what is turning off the dual file display.

Thanks! I believe I found it.
(finally...)
