Easus ToDo Backup Files

Hi Jon/Leo,

When doubliclicking an "Easus ToDo Backup File" (extension pbd) an explorer windows opens with the content of this file. Is it possible to open this files with DO? The file looks like a kind of "ZIP"-file: after opening it shows the drive and its contents.

Thanks in advance, kind regards!

RIen.

It may depend how they are handling the virtual folder or mounting the backup as a drive.

If you copy the path from the top of the Explorer window and paste it into Opus, does that work?

Alternatively, does the drive appear in the folder tree somewhere within Opus?

Hi Leo,

If I copy and paste the adress into DO then DO returns to the same location:

.

Thanks in advance!

If you go one level below that and do the same, does it make any difference?

What's the path if you go inside C: from where you are in the screenshot?

This is the path if I fo into c:

Thanks!

It looks like they may be doing something which only works in Explorer, or at least that Opus doesn't know how to support (at the moment).

I think even if we did get it to work in Opus, it would essentially give you the same inner window as in Explorer, inside the Opus frame. You'd get the advantage of folder tabs, but not most of the other advantages of Opus.

Some backup software allows you to mount drives from a backup as real drives (usually read-only) which are visible to all programs in the system and act the same as any other storage device, but I don't know if this program does that. All my searches point to the same method you are using, or an alternative which is their custom backup browser tool.

Right-clicking a drive at the top level of the backup may reveal a Mount option, but I'm guessing not in this case.

If there is an API for accessing the backup format then a plugin could be written for Opus to use it, but those formats and access to them are usually kept proprietary.

Hi Leo,

Thanks for the exclamation. Indeed it is possible to mount the backup as a drive; after that is it available in DO.
I can live with it. It was worth trying it....

Have a nice weekend; cheers from Holland!

FYI. Here is the .dll ToDo is using to display the backup file in File Explorer. This doesn't help with DOpus displaying it, I'm just posting this for anyone interested in how Todo is doing it.
