When using short selection rows, the parent-row is very short (see picture).
I would suggest to make parent always selectable on full row (or width of 1st column).
It's not the only item that can be short. You can make them all easier to click by choosing Preferences / File Display Modes / Details / File selection / highlighting style: Full width of the Name column.
I know, but I want short file selection, except parent.
