Error after install DOpus 12

I installed DOpus 12. Now whenever I run it a window pops up with the message:

The procedure entry point ?SumToString@Hash@@SAXBEPADII@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library dopuslib.dll.

After that DOpus 12 does NOT appear. I haven't even had the opportunity to activate my registration yet.

Reboot, then reinstall and reboot again.

Tried it, no difference. Note that during the second reboot (after the reinstall), the blue core dump screen appeared with the message VER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. This is getting frustrating. I could never get the update from 11.1 to 11.2 to work either.

If the system is bluescreening with VER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors, the problem is at a much lower level than Opus.

If installing Opus triggers that bluescreen, and it wasn't just coincidence that it appeared when installing Opus, then it's probably your antivirus crashing (since a/v operates at a very low level). Otherwise it's likely to be a driver bug, or a hardware issue. Event Viewer may have more details about which components are failing.

I tried reinstalling V 12. This time no blue screen. I did observe the following anomalies:

When installing V 12, I got a message claiming that V 11 was still installed. This was not true. V 11 of DOpus was previously uininstalled. This makes me wonder if there are pieces of V 11 still present which are interfering with the upgrade to V 12.

After installing V 12 and rebooting I got the following message:
The Procedure Entry Point SafePathAppend could not be located in the DLL dopuslib.dll

After clearing the above message I tried to run V 12. I got the message:
The Procedure Entry Point ?SumToString@Hash@SAXPBEPEDII@z could not be located in the DLL dopuslib.dll
V 12 did not come up after this message appeared.

Please help me.

Something is preventing the old Opus DLLs from being removed/replaced, by the look of things.

Uninstall Opus again, and reboot. Then make sure "C:\Program Files\GPSoftware" no longer exists, and delete anything that remains if it does. (Assuming that was where it was installed.) If it is completely gone, then install Opus.

I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled. No "C:\Program Files\GPSoftware" was left after uninstall yet for some reason it worked this time and V 12.1 is now installed. I would be happy except that now when I try to upgrade to V 12.2 it doesn't work. It says 12.2 is downloaded and installed, but after the reboot it is still V 12.1. I tried the upgrade twice. No error messages appear. The version just remains at 12.1.

Have you tried doing the same thing with the 12.2 installer? All the installer downloads work for both clean installs and over-the-top updates. You can download the latest installer from our downloads page, or for beta versions the latest link is always in my signature.

It might be worth checking the event logs via Event Viewer for error messages to see if something is failing which may explain why the installer isn't able to replace files.

Same with antivirus which may be blocking replacement, possibly for some binaries and not others.

File or registry permissions being incorrect may also cause problems, but are quite hard for us to diagnose remotely.

I turned off antivirus (Malwarebytes) and downloaded the 12.2 installer & ran it. With AV off, the upgrade worked! I am happy now. Thank you, Leo.
