Hi all
I am new to Opus - just downloaded and have wasted most of the day already getting to know it. So far I am pretty impressed by the program except for one thing, which is probably just my preference, but still significant.
I am used to programs like Outlook, Groupwise, and a number of document management programs which all have the option of showing the directory tree along the entire left hand side of the window, the files/messages in a pane on the right hand side at the top, and a view pane also at the right hand side of the folder tree and below the file pane. I tend to find the dimensions of the view pane in this configuration much more useful when searching around for a particular file rather than extending all along the bottom of the window.
Is there any possible way of making Opus behave like this?
Thanks in advance

I think what you are after is something like the first drawing, but you can only do the second or the third.
┌───────────────┬────────────────────────┐
│ │ │
│ Folder Tree │ Lister Pane │

│ ├────────────────────────┤

│ │ Viewer Pane │

└────────────────────────────────────────┘
┌───────────────┬───────────────┬────────────────┐

You would have to submit an feature request for this at the official support site.
Yes, that is exactly what I am looking for.
Most unfortunate to hear that it isn't possible to do this at all ...

For navigating to and between folders, Opus provides a host of options: [ul][li] The Drives toolbar[/li]
[li] The Folder Tree[/li]
[li] Hot Paths[/li]
[li] Favorites and Smart Favorites[/li]
[li] The Go menu[/li]
[li] The Go raw command (in your own buttons)[/li]
[li] The Path Field[/li]
[li] The hidden path entry field (Press Shift +Enter)[/li][/ul]With all the above options for folder navigation, you will eventually rely less on the folder tree.
With all the above options for folder navigation, you will eventually rely less on the folder tree.
In fact, at the prompting of one of our erstwhile regular contributors, BigGus, I decided to try omitting the folder tree altogether, and after a short period of familiarisation, I now never use it at all.
If you have never even considered doing this, it may seem difficult, or even impossible, but I can assure you, with the flexibility of DOpus, you simply do not need it. If you try this approach, and like it, you can then set up a lister with the file pane and the viewer pane one above the other.
