When I extract the files from a zip file I find that all the extracted files have their date and time changed to the date and time of extraction. Why is this and how can I stop this happening.
Check that Settings -> Preferences / File Operations / Copying Files: Preserve the timestamps of copied files is on.
Yes it is turned on
How are you extracting the files?
Does the same happen with a zip made by Opus itself?
Also, does copying a normal file from C:\ to the same destination successfully preserve its timestamp? (If not, what is the destination? Is it an unusual filesystem or type network drive?)
Problem solved. When I right clicked on the zip file there was an entry in the context menu for "Extract" which was what I used. I now see there is an entry for Directory Opus Zip. When using that there is no problem. I have no idea yet where the other extract came from.
Thanks.
That item would've been added by some other archive tool you've got installed.
I have no idea where it came from as I have never installed a program for zip files other than Powerdesk which has been completely removed now that I have Opus.
I should have guessed that it would be Microsoft's own program.

This problem is a security feature of the Attachment Manager that is included in the operating system.
There are work arounds if you do not have a proper unzipper.
