I have Directory Opus installed on my home and work machines. My work computer was recently updated to Windows 7 64-bit. The one item I notice that does behave exactly the same is when I press the F3 key. Pressing the F3 key my home and previous work computer would bring up the Utility Panel - Find so I can perform a search, but when I pressing the F3 key on my upgraded work computer doesn't bring up the Utility Panel - Find. I have searched through the Preferences and found related topics as "Find-As-You-Type" and "Styles" where the Utility Panel can be configured on by default for specific Styles. I couldn't find where the hotkey/keyboard shortcuts listing/mapping was, though, to see what the mapping of the F3 key is to. I did find pressing the CTRL-F will bring up the Utility Panel - Find, but my brain is so programmed to press the F3 that I would rather see if I can adjust the behavior of DO to bring up the Utility Panel - Find when I press the F3 key.
By default, F3 activates the search box (top-right of the window) and Ctrl-F opens the Find Panel.
If you want to change that, go to Settings -> Customize Toolbars, then right-click the Search box on your toolbar and select Edit. In the hotkey field, click the arrow on the right and a menu will open; click on Clear to remove the F3 hotkey, then click OK.
Now open the Tools menu, right-click the Find Files item at the top and select Edit. Type F3 into the hotkey field (you'll probably want to change the label to reflect the new hotkey as well), and click OK.
Then click OK in the Customize window to save the changes.
Thanks, Leo. I wonder if this setting is a carry over from when I had DO v9 installed? Perhaps I changed the default behavior in a past life. I am not sure what the difference is between installations. Again, thanks!
