Is there any way to have the left pane show a list of the drives AND shortcuts of the most accessed folders, like on the Mac finder?
Go to Preferences - Listers - Folder Tree and you'll see various checkboxes to turn on/off what's shown in the folder tree.
Favorites, SmartFavorites or Recent List are probably what you want.
