Favorites not updating location in folder tree

When I select a 'favorite' and it's files are displayed, in the lister, the folder tree is not updating showing the 'favorite' I have selected, I have to manually scroll the Folder Tree display to see the actual folder that 'favorites' opened. The lister shows the requested files, but the folder tree must be manually scrolled to show the 'favorite' folder I asked for.

Check you don't have the lock turned on in the folder tree:

The lock is not turned on. It's just that the 'folder tree' does not move to the directory that is displayed to the right in the lister. Sometimes it does, but other times it dosen't.

How are you selecting the favorite? In the tree (via the favorites branch, or via the real location of the folder)? Or via the favorites menu? Or some other way?

As I stated in my first post .....

Maybe you could post a screenshot to illustrate your meaning as I don't think we are quite understanding you.

There are at last three different ways I can think of to "select a favorite" and I'm still not sure which one we're talking about here.

The folder tree lock is not set on. This is a very time wasting annoying problem. Could you dig a little deeper?

We can't help unless you answer our questions.

There are several things that "select a favorite" could mean, and we don't know which one you are doing.

[ul][li]What are you clicking on to select the favorite? Are we talking about the favorites branch of the folder tree, or the favorites menu at the top of the window, or something else?

[/li]
[li]Can you post a screenshot showing what you are seeing to help us understand?[/li][/ul]

If you try it for yourself most of the time it does, and on the times it doesn't, just re selecting it in favorites will bring it up in view in the tree. There is some inconsistency in Dopus in this operation. Your programmers should take a look, this is quite annoying, and wastes time.

We can't look at it because we are not sure exactly what to look at and need you to clarify things.

If you just answer my two simple questions, above, we can make some progress. If you don't then we can't and we'll keep going around in circles.

First of all I REALLY like the program, use it often for filing the documents I scan. This requires that I move around, hence the favorites list.

On the tool bar I click on the gold star which is 'favorites' from the drop down list I select where I want to go. Most of the time dopus moves the tree so the directory I am selecting is visible in the folder tree, but not allways, the files are displayed in the lister, but the tree does not update so the directory is visable. If I click on the gold star and the desired directory a second time then the folder tree updates so the directory is visible. If this doesn't answer your question, please re state it, not sure what you want.

I have screen shots but how do I send them to you?

Since it is a question that has come up a few times now, how to attach images / screen grabs might be worth adding to the FAQ.

Thanks! I understand what is being done now.

So, sometimes when you select something from the Favorites menu (gold star), the tree does not move at all?

What are the Preferences / Folder Tree / Options / Automatically expand to current folder options set to for you? The default is for the checkbox to be on, and Popualte contents for local devices only to be selected. Selecting No content population may help, depending on the underlying cause.

What type of drive are you seeing this on? Is it a slow drive? (If it takes a very long time to read the directory listings for the tree, Opus will eventually stop waiting and won't jump to the selected item. That would be unusual on a normal speed device, however.)

Is there anything else that might be special about the folders it happens on? e.g. Do they contain a huge number of directories at one of the levels leading up to the folder? Or do they have lots of archives or executables below the directories? (Especially installer executables; sometimes anti-virus scanners can go wild on installers and really slow down the tree.)

(If it could be zip or exe files, turning off Preferences / Folder Tree / Contents: ZIP files and other archives may be worth a try, along with any other options on the same page which you don't need.)
