Favorites

Hello, a couple of queries regarding favorites, if someone could please advise:

I've added a Favourites menu to the toolbar, but icons are not displayed next to the favourite items. As I have specified custom icons (in desktop.ini) for each of my favourite folders, I'm wondering if there is any way of enabling icons in the favourites menu? Same is true of the Favourites displayed in the custom Win7 Jump menu; in this case, icons are displayed, but they are generic folder icons, not the customized icons.

Also, is it possible to make the Favourites default to EXPANDED in the folder tree? Whenever I launch opus, it is displayed collapsed within the 'Favorites and Recent' branch.

  1. Add the SHOWICONS argument to the Favorites command. (The one on the default toolbars should have it already, but if you're making everything from scratch you'll need to add it to your command.)

  2. Jump list folder icons are always generic at the moment. It's on our list but low priority so I'm not sure when we'll look at it.

  3. If you're using Opus 11 Beta, it now remembers which branches of the tree were expanded when you save the Default Lister or a Layout.

Thanks Leo, got the icons working with Showicons

I've got icons showing in my Favorites menu for all drives and folders except for those on USB flash drives that are seen by Windows as being a "Removable Disk." My last flash drive (Drive I) for some reason is being seen by Windows as a "Local Disk," so the icons show up in my Favorites drop down menu. Where do I configure the Showicons setting?

Are the favourites pointing to a flash drive that isn't currently plugged in?

My flash drives are always plugged in. I don't know if this is relevant, but all of my flash drives are made by Sandisk. I tried adding my Favorites to the Folder Tree - All of the icons show up in the tree, except for those that are on drives seen as a Removable Disk. If I could make Windows see the Removable Disk drives as Local Disks, the icons would show up in the Favorites menu. I have an external 1 TB USB hard drive that is seen as a Local Disk, so the icons are appearing in the menu items on that drive.

Possibly relevant (?): I use a program called Change Folder Icons to change the icons on my flash drives. If I try to change a folder's icon that is located on a flash drive, the Customize tab in Properties does not appear. Change Folder Icons lets me change folder icons on any folder on any type of drive.

Possibly relevant, Part II: I formatted my flash drives to NTFS using a 3rd party software program, as Windows XP apparently doesn't enable formatting of FAT32-formatted flash drives natively. That could possibly be causing my anomaly.

If you open Preferences and use the search field at the bottom to find the generic icons setting, turn it off (if it's on) and see of that makes a difference.

The 'generic icons' box is unchecked. I now believe this is not a Directory Opus problem, since icons only do not show up on drives that Windows sees as being Removable. Thanks for the help.
