Hi,
I hope you can help with a problem.
In the attached screen shot, you can see that I have used the relevant options to colour the 'ZDL' files a sort of purple. eg "attendees_(2).zdl". However another file I have created "staff_(7).zdl" remains un-coloured. Can you tell me why this could be.
Many thanks
R.Rolison
Can we see the color filter definition? Did you use the wildcard label filter?
I used the colour definition filter as I have done previously.
As per the attached screen shot, all '*.zdl' should be purple, but the file I want (ie "staff_(7).zdl" remains un-coloured).
However there is s longish list of files (ending in zdl, which I didn't created, and don't know where they came from!!
Of course doesn't include "staff_(7).zdl".
The list of specific names can only happen if you had at some point selected them and then applied the Purple label to them explicitly (e.g. via Properties > Set Label > Purple, from near the bottom right of the default toolbars).
To simplify things, select all of those explicit labels in the Preferences window and remove them.
After doing that, do your *.zdl files all appear without labels now? If so, there's probably something wrong with the *.zdl label which we can't see from the screenshot. e.g. If you double-click it to edit it, is it set to wildcards or regular expressions? (It should be wildcards in this case.) Is it set to 'folders only'?
Another possibility is that another label is matching the file in question instead of the *.zdl one, so it may be worth posting a screenshot of the Preferences page after the individual file labels have been removed, so we can see the items (if any) which were out of view.
Hi,
Thanks for that reply.
I had ticked 'Use regular expression'. Don't know why. Its use doesn't seem too obvious though.
Incidentally your reply was slightly incorrect, as there is no 'wildcard' option. Just tick or un-tick the 'Use regular expression' box.
Thanks
Bob
It switches from wildcards to regular expressions. If you don't know what regular expression are, they are described here.
That type of label is either set to regular expressions ("use regular expressions" is ticked) or wildcards ("use regular expressions" is not ticked).
