File Renaming broken after latest upgrade

I have several context menu commands to rename music files from mp3 tags.

I've been using them for years, but since the latest update (13.25) they don't work at all. Is this a known problem?

Thanks.

No it's not. I think if Rename had stopped working we'd have more reports by now.

What commands do they run?

Here's one:

Select *.mp3
Rename REGEXP TO="{mp3track|#2} - {mp3title}.mp3" TYPE=files FILEINFO CASE=allwords

Opus seems to dislike FILEINFO now (it's been retired long time ago). REGEXP is not needed here but causes no harm.

The issue is using REGEXP mode with an empty "from" pattern. A change in the previous version meant this stopped working - although I think it's strictly incorrect and wasn't ever explicitly supported, it did use to work. We'll make it work again in the next update.

In the meantime adding PATTERN=".*" should make it work again.

Where do I add that?

Any chance you can show me the complete code that I should replace the above with..."

Thanks for your help. I REALLY appreciate it.

Probably something like:

Select *.mp3
Rename REGEXP PATTERN=".*" TO="{mp3track|#2} - {mp3title}.mp3" TYPE=files FILEINFO CASE=allwords

Seems to work.

Many thanks!

Could be simplified slightly, removing the need for the select command and a few arguments:

Rename FROM="*.mp3" PATTERN="*" TO="{mp3track|#2} - {mp3title}" IGNOREEXT TYPE=files CASE=allwords

That will rename all *.mp3 files in the current folder without having to select them.
