File transfers and external hdd write caching

are copy/move file operations in dopus subject to the same problems as in windows explorer when it comes to write caching on an external hdd? if the operation completes and then i just pull out the usb cable, is there any chance of errors on the external drive?

I think write caching is a Windows per-device setting, not a per-program setting.

Go to Device Manager and bring up Properties for your drive to see what it is set to.

If you right-click the drive and get an Eject option in its context menu then you can create a button in Opus which will "eject" it for save removal from a single click, instead of the two or three clicks required to use the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the taskbar.

i understand all that. i was just trying to determine if dopus has a way of bypassing the windows fie operation to ensure that the data is actually written by the time the process reaches 100% complete. sometimes when you 'eject' an external hdd in windows, it will just tell you 'cannot disconnect now' for no apparent reason.

I'm not sure if it is possible to bypass the OS's write caching (or flush the cache after the copy is done) but, either way, I don't think Opus does so.

(I have never looked into this so it might be possible. Me not being sure doesn't mean much here.)
