HI, I know that the file "hosts" is located in this directory and some other files as well, but DO9 does not show them.
What to do?

Opus is not fully x64 compatible yet.
If you're on Vista you can use %WINDIR%\Sysnative to access the real System32 directory.

I am not on Vista. Just XP. So no 64 bit system...
In Explorer the files are just there, but Opus does not show them...
There is a 64 bit version of XP. Are you saying you're definitely not using 64 bit? If so, which files aren't there? Do you have any filters in place in Opus that could be hiding them?
Correct, I am not using 64 bit.
I am looking into the folder c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc...
Normally the file "hosts", "networks", "protocol", "services" are shown. Now only lmhosts.sam is shown.
Maybe the install has been corrupted, because also the program exits after a couple of minutes.
I will try that first...
If only hosts.sam appears then you may have a filter applied which is hiding files that don't have a file extension.
For example, if your filter is set to . then a file called hosts will not be shown because the filename does not have a . in it.
(Opus does not adhere to the archaic MS-DOS wildcard syntax which makes . a special case that matches everything. To match everyting you should use * instead.)
A few questions in an effort to help find an answer..
I assume you have no folder format set for: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ ?
If you go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ do the files you see change when you apply a different style?
If you set up a button with the command SET CLEARFILTERS and press it while you're in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ do the hidden files appear?
Go to the GPSoftware website, download and install Opus. If Opus is exiting without warning then it's quite likely that your version is corrupt (I shall leave it as an exercise for the reader to determine why it might be corrupt).
Once you've got a working Opus installed either paid or trial then feel free to come back and re-ask your question. Until such time we're all wasting our time trying to help.
