I have a bunch of files showing up all over the place that start with two hashes ## and have very long random filenames. The very beginning of each file has the text "GPSoftSD". I cannot delete these files. Or perhaps I can delete them, but they come right back.
What are these files and how do I get rid of them once and for all?
Opus writes that string to the start of files that you delete using the Secure Delete function. Normally once the file is overwritten it should be deleted; my guess is something else on your system is preventing them from being deleted.
Thanks for the clue. I was able to delete the files at the source rather than through SMB. The source is a QNAP NAS. Seems like the random filename that is generated is not deletable through SMB. So every once in a while I get a huge filename that can't be deleted.
