Do you have those script? Share it please, or is it possible to include part of the Filter bar in the Status bar? 
Due to some constraints I didn't script this, just playing with it.

I'd love it. I disabled the File Filter Field given its old design/icon and hearing it's no longer updated, but this would be the best possible alternative for having a permanent, unobtrusive input.
It's a feature request (see tag).
Now I understand, thank you very much, there are several of us wanting the same thing, several with the same need, let's continue asking for it, maybe one day they will listen to us and leave us very happy!
