Filter or find based on description

I'd love to be able to set up a filter field based on description, but that doesn't seem possible. Given that, is there anyway I can set up a find field that will automatically search on description without having to go thru the advanced tab each time?

I don't think there is a good, quick way to do this right now, unless you are searching for the start of the description, rather than a sub-string (in which case you can sort by the column and then type the start of what you're looking for, assuming the option to search that way is switched on).

Seems like a good idea, though. I have filed this as a feature request:
Being able to quickly select and filter files by columns other than Name would be useful.

The Description column, in particular, but sometimes also others, e.g. Location or Video Codec.

At the moment you can do this but you have to define a new advanced filter every time. You can also sort by another column and then use the FAYT field, but only if you want to match the start of the string, not a sub-string.

Being able to type "desc:blah" into a toolbar's filter field, or the same into the simple select dialog, would be handy. For people who do this a lot, perhaps the filter field and select command should also get column arguments, so you could create a button which ran

Select Column=Desc

which always selected by the desc. column.
(Jon thought of the Google-style "desc:" prefix.)

I'd like to second this as a suggestion. That would be Damn Good Functionality (DGF).

Just like to third that - would have been quite handy about 5 mins ago.
