This has been requested in the german forums: the name column would stay in its position, if there are obstructed columns, which make the usage of the horizontal scroll bar necessary (as an option). I think, that is not a bad idea.
You mean an option like "Freeze Column" in Excel? That would be a nice feature. The frozen column should be still resizeable and you should be able to easily toggle this behaviour in case the column already fills most of the available space. A little button next to the sort triangle on the column header would be best.
I didn't even know much about Excel, never used it, but i saw that video demo in the requesting post, which looked convincing. In case you have to scroll horizontally, you want to keep the file names in sight. That's the reason, why i prefer to use Set DUAL TOGGLELAYOUT, switching to horizontal mode.
