I could not find an appropriate option (or maybe there isn't one)...
What I would like to do is to display a folder in flatview, but recursed only to one subdirectory, maybe two, not all the way down.
For example: I want so see quickly all the execs in Program Files folders, grouped by directories. When I do it now, the search takes significant time and then displays all the directories, which clutters the view. And I am only interested in execs in folders one level (or two) below Program Files, nothing more.
Of course, another option would be to search for execs and put them in a file collection, but this would have to be updated quite often (as I like to try out various programs).
Or (I just had this idea!) I could write a script which would update the collection from time time... (if it is possible).
If you set up the filter in the Find (Advanced) window you should be able to save it to a named filter which you can then pass to the Find command. Something like this should work (though I haven't tried it):
Unfortunately, it just shows that my folders are a mess Therefore I will think of some other solutions as well...
P.S. Specifying flatview depth, or, for that matter, filtering flatview by folder or search would still be nice... Any devs reading this, or should I make (another ) feature request?
A flatview depth setting (I guess a numeric/spin-control in the toolbar?) sounds like something that could be useful. Drop GPSoft a note and they might add it. It could turn out to be one of those things that's quite complicated to implement but it doesn't hurt to ask.
