I am not sure how feasible it would be, that is why I post it here instead of official support...
It has just occurred to me that some of my buttons are used only in very specific folders (or folder branches)... Would it be possible to specify (maybe in the folder options) displaying of selected buttons (although right-click options would be great, too) depending on the folder?
Another option would be displaying buttons depending on the file types (e.g. it works that way with the thumbnail size slider - it only shows with pictures).
I'm pretty sure it's been requested before. Not sure how easy it would be to implement. There's no harm in adding another request though - I think most requests along these lines have been simply to have toolbars specific to layouts/styles.
I imagine something like this might be better off as an extension to the Marker command. Not sure how much ppl actually use it 'now'... but I would envision placing a special Marker on a toolbar which itself could be configured to reveal menu/button items in the event any of a specified number of folders or filetypes are being displayed... Perhaps the content type detection feature could also be extended for a similar effect?
Just had another thought based on an idea from Tanis to be able to use reference Filetype groups in internal commands...
Might alos be convenient to be able to define 'Folder Groups' which could be absolute paths to folders, or relative folder names with/without wildcards. Following Tanis suggestion such a group could then be referenced using 'markers' to display toolbar buttons when folders matching the group definition are displayed... as well as providing context and drop menu options specifically for certain folders if someone has a need for it.
I think this stuff would be rather niche features... but it extends the ability to refine what Opus shows a user so that only what is 'desired' in particular situations is shown, instead of showing things 'all the time'.
A series of actions fired by different events on a folder would be great.
Developers have these kinds of events to script to. Why shouldn't "configurable" file managers?
First I would think how they could be used and if these goals cannot be easily reached using existing capabilities.
