Hi guys, if I enter a folder name in here, it hides it from the files listing but it still appears in the folder tree. Is there a way to apply the setting to the folder tree as well. I know I can use global hide filters but I want the particular folder visible on one drive and not on another, that is why I was using Folder Options.
Aside from global name filters, you could set the folder tree to hide Hidden or Hidden-System folders, then use those attributes on the folder to hide it.
The folder tree won't use filters defined in folder formats, since folder formats only apply to a particular folder tab, and the folder tree is more "global" than that, showing all folders all at once for tabs which may be using a variety of formats (even against the same folder).
Hmm, unfortunately that won't work for me because the folder I am trying to hide is on a NAS drive and I don't think it is Windows-based, I tried using attributes and they didn't stick.
Thanks anyway.
Hi Leo, I was just wondering, even though the folder tree is more "global", it does know which folder you are in and seems to follow as you navigate by clicking on folders in the lister tab and going back/forward. Might it be possible to see if there is a folder format defined on any location when you navigate there and then hide any folders defined in the 'Hide Filters' from the tree?
I'd be surprised if a NAS does not support basic file/folder attributes, but some NAS are surprising in what they do/don't do, I suppose.
It could also be a permissions issue, perhaps. Have you tried searching for help about setting attributes on the type of NAS you're using, or asking the NAS vendor for support? The ability to set and retrieve the basic file attributes (hidden, read-only, etc.) is fairly fundamental stuff.
