Can I set the folder tree to open with certain folders already expanded?
There are 3--4 folders I use all the time that are at various depths in the folder tree; I'd like them always to be visible when I run the software.
I don't think you can, sorry.
You could add them to Favorites and show the Favorites branch in the tree, but that wouldn't be the same so probably not what you want.
