Folder tree not left-justified

Some of my folder names are very long. When Directory Opus opens, the folder tree window is horizontally scrolled so as to be roughly centered on the longest name. This hides the important stuff. I have to scroll the Folder Tree to the left to see the folder names. Is there a setting to make the Folder Tree window open scrolled to the left?

Try the options under Preferences / Folder Tree / Options / Horizontal scrolling style.

YES! I figured there was an option in there somewhere. Manual scrolling does the trick. Thank you! Case closed.

Is there a similar option for the folder pane (for long folder/file names)?
Thanks

No. Which of the four scrolling options are you looking for? I'm not sure why you would want any of them for the file display, except the manual scrolling option which is how it works already.

The file display is much wider than the tree, and is almost never indented by varying amounts like the tree is (except when using Flat View Grouped, but the extra width makes that a non-issue) so I can't see where any of the automatic horizontal scrolling options would help at all. Maybe I have misunderstood what you are asking for?

There are options to auto-size the file display columns, which let you see long filenames. You can also put the filenames into the infotips (the popups you see if you hover over a file) as another way to see them (e.g. if the name is wider than the window).

Thanks for the reply.

Not if you have a very long file name, two folders displayed, viewer pane open and a 4:3 monitor

Why I find it a little frustrating is I would like to see things such as "file type" & "modified date" but they have been pushed off-screen as the file name column defaults to "expand to fit".
Dopus seems to have a myriad of options, I thought it would also accommodate file name "Expand to fit" or "view truncated"

I'm not sure if that's true or not, but, default or not, if that's happening Auto-size columns must be in effect.

Right-click one of the column headings, then select More ... from the drop=-down. Then click the Display tab. Is Auto-size columns checked?

Bingo - thanks.
Didnt expect to find options there.
