I updated to the latest version this morning, and find that D Opus is freezing. The program opens without problems, but as soon as I select a file to open, the program freezes and needs to be terminated using Task Manager.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
We haven't had any similar reports in the week the update has been out, and selecting files is so common that we would have lots of reports, so there must be another detail or something specific to your computer or Opus configuration.
Here are some things which might narrow down what's happening:
[ul][li]Before anything else, one thing to try is downloading the update and reinstalling it again, then rebooting. Don't uninstall first (that would wipe your config); just install over the top of what you have. Be sure to reboot afterwards.
[/li]
[li]Do you have the viewer pane open? (If so, try closing it in case the freeze is due to a viewer/plugin.)
[/li]
[li]Does the freeze happen with all files in all folders, or just a particular file, file type, or folder?
[/li]
[li]Do you get a freeze if you select using the keyboard instead of the mouse? (Use the space or cursor keys.)
[/li]
[li]If it's only when you use the mouse, try turning off Preferences / File Displays / Options / Enable file InfoTips in... in case the problem is the infotip that appears when you leave the mouse over a file. (If the infotip is the trigger, it's most likely due to a 3rd party shell extension.)
[/li]
[li]Which file display mode are you using? (Details, List, Thumbnails, etc.)
[/li]
[li]Is Preferences / File Displays / Options / Single click to open an item (point to select - does not apply to Power mode) turned on? If it's on, do you still get the problem with it turned off?[/li][/ul]
Sincere thanks for a very prompt and detailed response. I don't have the viewer pane open. The freeze has been occurring as soon as I place the cursor over any type of file or folder, then click just once. I use only the mouse, and I am using the list display mode. I am now downloading the update and will install over the current install.
Best wishes and thank you again. I will report back after the installation.
The problem has been resolved by the fresh install. Once again, my sincere thanks.
