FTP Site Timezone Issue

Hello all,

Attached is a screenshot from one of my FTP sites. I think you have an issue with timezone in DO 13. First off I select Eastern Time, but it never holds. It contiunually reverts back to Havana. Second you see that I have selected the option to adjust for daylight savings time. Well with this option selected all my times on files of the server are one hour earlier than they should be. Can someone tell me how I should be selecting this? I know I could just not select adjust for daylight savings but that defeats why you added this as an option correct?

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for the report. There is a bug involving timezones with a & in the name (as in "Eastern (US & Canada)". We'll fix this in the next update.

Regarding daylight savings time, this sounds like it's behaving as designed. If daylight savings is currently in force in the selected timezone, the timestamp is adjusted by one hour to compensate.

HI Jon,

Sorry if I was not clear about DST. Its 10:49 am here right now, yet with DST checked the file times are 1 hour earlier, so its showing 9:49 am. Obviously I can uncheck it and I would be fine but the calculation for DST is off.

Thanks,
Steve

The option is designed to compensate for a remote server that sends different timestamps when DST is in force, so that the client sees consistent times no matter what. If the remote server doesn't do that then you'd want to turn it off.

So if my server enforces DST i do not need this?

You never "need" it  You might want to turn it on if you find remote timestamps change when the server goes into DST and you don't want them to.
