Glass statusbar on maximize

Hey everyone!

i have a quick question. is there an option in opus to allow me to make it such that when i maximize opus, the statusbar will remain glassified, as was in the other revisions (attached picture)? now it turns solid that's not as appeal to me. i liked how the glow stands out; it mesmerizes me to no end.

if this has already been addressed, plz excuse me!

Not at the moment. It might be revised for Windows 7.

On Vista maximized glass borders go opaque and dark (instead of translucent and light) and the text on them loses its glow. Those things made it difficult for people to choose status bar text colours which were readable in both cases, so the glass status bar was disabled while maximized.

Apparently Windows 7 doesn't change glass as much when things are maximized so it might change. I've only installed Windows 7 beta on a virtual machine so I haven't had a chance to play with anything to do with Aero/glass on it yet.

I guess it could also be made possible for people to define separate colours for normal and maximized windows.

i agree that it does look kinda bad to see white lettering on white background like this first picture, but also i think the glow makes even that readable. the second pic is what i miss in vista; the opus glass statusbar looks better there than on windows 7, if the text is white~

just enough translucency, with white lettering, it really pops at me.

maybe instead of disabling glass on maximize, allow the user the ability to specify a different color for lettering on glass statusbar maximize. for example, allow the user to specify in the statusbar code to use, say, black when not maximized, and instead of having opus change the statusbar to solid mode, have it invoke another user specified color for the font, say... white, on maximize? instead of switching to a completely different display modality on maximize, allow the user to specify another color to display--or the ability to change the intensity(?) and thickness(?) of the aura around the lettering via statusbar code switches, maybe?

Yes, all of those ideas are worth considering I think.

BTW the white screenshot is using quite an old version of Opus. I see you mentioned 9.1.0.0 but I could tell it was old just from the screenshot. The status bar rendering with glass has been changed quite a bit since then. Things like the muddy glow that gets clipped quite badly at the window edges and the XP-style resize grip have been replaced/improved. (But as part of that change, the status bar turns off glass completely when maximized.)

oh ok!

now that you mention in the BTW, when in glass mode, the status bar does look remarkably attractive in 9.1.1.7/8; for this i surely give kudos! wonderful sight.

thanks again for all the help

This is correct. The caption bar of maximized windows remains glass in Windows 7. It looks quite good since the entire taskbar is glass as well.

Hopefully once RTM is loose, the way things work in Opus can get revised

+1 for glass in maximised window.

Another thing I would like to see is glass on more parts than just the frame and status bar. Something like this:

That may be appealing to the eye but it is a huge distracting source...All that glass isn't very practica I think..But it would be nice for the custumization freaks I guess.
