In my downloads folder, I have shortcuts to other folders in different areas so that I can quickly drag/drop the appropriate files to their destination. I have downloaded a script that allows me to sort by File Group Types and that has helped me merge all the video files into a group but I can not find a way to make it work with folders/shortcuts.

You can not add extensions to the 'all folders' settings and making a group using .lnk and .dir does not seem to work either.

Also, lower priority, but is there a way to modify the spacing between items and the spacing between groups? The spacing is a little excessive imo and I want a more compact look so I can see more without having to reduce the thumbnail size.

Interesting. I was about to say there is always a setting for everything but in fact I did have this toggled on already.

I had it grouped by type before and now I have it grouped by file type group -- is it possible that this settings works just for sorting but not for the grouping? Or maybe there is another setting haha

We both seem to be conflating sorting and grouping here. My mistake as well.

If you're grouping by a script column, how the groups are defined is up to the script. You could edit it to make it put shortcuts to folders in the same group as folders.

So the script uses the file type groups settings that are in the settings to make the groups, and I have made groups for videos, images, etc.

Here is the script you actually posted it coincidentally [(file type group sort url)](https://resource.dopus.com/t/column-kind-and-file-type-group/24529)

The only problem with the grouping I am having is with respect to getting folders to sort into a different group than their default/add shortcuts to the folders file type group.
