I am using SyncBackPro for years backuping my files and folder to a NAS. Now I want to use/test DO doing this job, but I don't want to make mistakes using sync-command.
There isn't a command which will do the "deleting files and folders not existing on source" part. The Sync tool in Opus can do that, but you can't currently script it via a command.
If your existing backup is automated and in the background, I would not try to use Opus to replace it. Most things in Opus are designed around interactive use and not strongly suited to scheduled background tasks.
Hi Leo, I don't want to shedule it, but yesterday I played a bit with sync and it worked ok. I just wanted to have "profiles" for my laptop, workstation and media-center without setting up the sync panel each time (which could be dangerous, you just need to swap source-dest accidentally).
You're right that a sync-tool offers more options (SyncBack is the best I've found), but just for simple syncs DO is perfect. Perhaps the sync should also be available as a command or it should be possible to save sync-profiles within the panel.
Edit: But can you please show me an example excluding files/folders within panel?
You just use a location filter. There's a FAQ about making them.
Note that there seems to be a bug with sync where location filters only apply to the source, not the destination. Also, sub-folder filters don't work with sync (the location-filter FAQ mentions that and provides alternative ways to do the same things).
