I have tried to set up a hotkey to display the list of Favorites. I've tried Window+F10 and Ctrl+F10 and got no results when selecting "Favorites List" from the functions in DO (which gets converted to "Favorites" as the function name). Is it possible to set up a hotkey to display the list of Favorites?
I believe the intent of Favorites is to be tied to a button. From Customize mode, drag one of the indicated commands to a toolbar. The clip shows what happens if you drag Favorites Menu. You can easily home in on all Favorites options using the search box.
If it has to be hotkey driven you could define a floating toolbar that has the most appropriate option(s) defined in buttons, and then associate a hotkey with the toolbar. Try the various Favorite options to see what you get.
AB,
Thanks for all this info..... I have set up a button. But I admit I still don't understand why I can't assign a hotkey to do the same thing....? What am I missing? It looks like the menu functions in DO can be assigned to hotkeys, or maybe not all of them?
The problem with using a floating toolbar as a pop-up menu is that it won't close after you make a selection. (Unless you manually make each item on the toolbar and include a command to close the toolbar, which would be a pain for a list of favorites.)
You can make normal menus (i.e. ones on the main toolbar) open via Alt + hotkeys. The default toolbars already have a Favorites menu which opens when you push Alt + a.
That's true, but if the hotkey is a toggle and you are a keyboard person then that may not be a problem. Personally I'm more of a button person but chacun a son gout as they supposedly say in Paris!
Well.... believe it or not, I did not know that Alt+A opened Favorites (partly because I only saw a button up there, not a "regular" menu. That pretty much does it for me. Thanks to AB and Leo for your responses, and all the info.
