How can I get files names to always expand to show full name

In standard file/folder display mode, I am always expanding the file name so I can see the whole name. I am not concerned about it pushing the other columns off to the right, I can scroll right to see them if need be. The vast majority of the time I am only interested in knowing the full file name. Ideally the lister would adjust with each navigation to just the minimum expansion needed to show the full file name. I found some related solutions, but they centered on large icon and thumbnail mode, not standard file mode.

My preferred solution for the issue is to the enable auto-size columns option in the folder options dialog.
If you don't want this to apply to all folders in general then you can apply it on a per style or layout basis.
