You could use the built-in Play command, but it's only meant as a backup. See here and here.

This is a very simple built-in utility - it's not supposed to replace a dedicated sound player

So you'll probably be better off with a tool like foobar.

Play selected file:

"/programfilesx86\foobar2000\foobar2000.exe" {filepath}

Play all files in directory:

"/programfilesx86\foobar2000\foobar2000.exe" {sourcepath}

Do you mean via double-clicking? (That should work automatically, if you have a music player installed.)

Or via the viewer pane? (That can be done as well, but might require a bit of extra work to make it work or repair it.)

Hello,

thx for helping me,
ok i use foobar2000 for Play
and Mixmeister Studio for Mixing

thx for preview only

Go to Preferences / Viewer / Plugins and configure the ActiveX + Preview + Office + Web plugin.

If you want audio files to be click-to-play within the preview pane:

  • Turn on Preview Handlers / Windows Media Player in the top part of the list.

Or, if you want audio files to play in the preview pane as soon as they are selected:

  • Select Generic ActiveX 32-bit near the bottom of the list, and then add the .m4a extension to it on the right. (In the next update, you won't need to do this part anymore as we'll make it part of the default config.)
