When I select a file to copy or move to another folder.
When I right click the folder to paste to, if I don't do it quickly enough the folder contents expand down. This is of course nice but not always what I want. There appears to be a short delay before this happens. Can the delay be extended or can the action be switched off altogether ?
Are you using hover-to-select mode?

I simply use mouse say to copy a file somewhere, then right click the destination folder, then usually before I can select paste into the destination folder, the destination folder expands displaying all items. This expanding is what I wish to disable, or extend the time it takes to expand, if either is possible.
Hover-to-select is also called single-click mode. You'd know if you were using it, so don't worry about it if it doesn't seem familiar.
Outside of that mode, AFAIK right-clicking shouldn't expand a folder unless the click is actually on the expansion arrow (on the left of the icon and folder name).
Ok. No, I right click on the folder name, not on the expansion arrow.
That shouldn't expand them, assuming we're talking about the File Display.
Is Preferences / File Displays / Mouse / Single click to open an item (hover to select) on or off? (Try turning it off it it's on.)
If we are talking about right-clicking folders in the Folder Tree instead of the File Display, the tree has an option to expand the selected folder, and right-clicking will select the folder, so it could also be that.
It's not the 1st. item, its unchecked.
Where do I check out the 2nd. item, right clicking folders?
If I right click a folder it doesn't expand. It only auto expands if if have first selected a file elswhere to copy to that folder.

What works best for me is to check "make folders expandable" but uncheck "Expand folders when drag over them"
I also see the "expansion delay" item. Thats another option.
