I have a program that i want to use to open my jpeg digital photos in. However, everytime I click on the photo to open it, it opens in the DOPUS viewer instead. How can i change this so that I can open the file into my external program?

During the setup wizard you probably told Opus to handle double-clicks on image files. You can turn this off via Preferences / Double-Click / Files: Use internal picture viewer for....
Changing the drop-down to Unregistered picture types is better than turning it off completely, since then Opus may be able to view something you double-click on that doesn't have another viewer, but other viewers will get the first chance.
