How to print without Photo Printing Wizard?

Under Windows XP, running the Print command with no files selected, or with only graphics files selected, will invoke the system Photo Printing Wizard.
Why??? How can i print normally?? without Photo Printing Wizard

What's wrong with the Photo Printing Wizard? I've never seen it before (don't print much) but it looks okay to me, at least the one in Vista.

too many actions

Is the XP one different to the Vista one? Once the wizard appears you can just press Print here and it's all done.

i need to push the "Next" button four times & "finish" button once!
For Win2000 everytihing goes right! I get preferences window, change to needed format & print!

I had a look at the Photo Printing Wizard on XP and it really is awful, like you say. The web is full of people complaining about it and asking if there's a way to disable it but not many answers.

One alternative suggestion I found was this:

If that works for you on XP then maybe there's a way to turn it into a menu button.

At least MS realised how annoying it was clicking through so many Wizard pages every time you print something and improved it in Vista (everything on one convenient page):

If you modify the Opus print command to specify a printer it will bypass the wizard as well. Eg,

Print TO "HP LaserJet 2200"

Also, printing from the Opus viewer does not use the wizard.

I have 'Default Printer' button with five-seven printers & often change it! Must i have 7 shortcuts on desktop!!!&??? or 7 different buttons... :frowning:

You could easily set up a drop-down menu with a list of your printers, that way it wouldn't take up any additional space on your toolbar.

Alternatively, print through the viewer.
