How to use a button to show the file type quick filter menu?

Hi,

Is there any way to open this menu directly with a toolbar button without having to open the filter bar first?

Thank you. I know that, but it's not what I want.

I prefer the quick filter's menu because it can:

  • Include file type groups
  • Display the number of files for each file type (group)
  • Allow selecting multiple options at once without reopening
  • Display as a multi-column menu to avoid being too long or needing to scroll

It appears there is no internal command to open this menu. If so, please consider this post as a feature request (for devs).

Thank you!

Hi, Jon

Thanks for the quick implementation!
I'm experiencing some issues with this command:

  1. If I first use Set QUICKFILTER to open the quick filter, then select something from the Set TYPEFILTERMENU popup menu, the filter bar input box appears empty. The content only shows up when I click on the window again.

  2. The command doesn't open the popup menu when used in a menu button.

Edit: I found that if the 'Hold or Right-Click to Drop Down' option for the menu button is turned on, the pop-up menu won't open.

I can't confirm this behavior. The grp and extensions box always pops up and is not blank.
