Icon folder fonts "glowing"

Good Morning to All,
I've search through all the tabs, titles, etc in preferences and custimizing menus and can't find where in the heck I made this selection. Somewhere I check a box or chose a drop down list that makes the folder/icon fonts in My Network Places glow with this grey shadow. Could you please direct me on how to get rid of the option?

I think this is a side-effect of turning on Preferences / Display / Options: Enable background images in virtual folders.

(If you don't want to turn that off, you could probably get rid of it by disabling the effect on the Windows Desktop as well, but then you lose it there as well as in Opus.)
