I am trying to redo the id3 tags in lots of mp3 files. How do I select a whole bunch that say need to be the same year in the tag. Can I do it lots of files at a time? I cant figure out how to do multiple id3 tag changes.
Thanks

The MP3 Tag Editor section of the manual describes what the built-in tag editing can do.
In terms of mass-editing, it allows you to copy:
a) The Artist + Album + Year + Genre tags only;
b) All information except Title and Track tags;
or
c) All information
from one file to others.
If you want to do some mass-editing other than that then I'd recommend a dedicated tool at the moment.
The Godfather is the best one that I've found and, as it happens, also free. I've tried just about every tagger there is and much prefer TGF to all of them, even the ones which cost money. Once you get used to it (which takes a little while) it is very powerful and easy to use. I don't like Tag & Rename, for example, because it can't use regular expressions or pull tag information from filenames (or something like that -- I forget what it can do exactly but I found it really limited -- almost useless -- compared to The Godfather).
The mass-tagger plugin for the Foobar2000 music player (also free) is another very good tagger. It works quite differently to most others but is very flexible and supports WMA, which is about the only format that The Godfather does not support, as well as MP3, FLAC, etc. which they both support.
You can also take a look at this.
