Improved Peformance for labelling lister items?

When setting labels (Blue, Green, Red etc) for items in a lister it seems to have a noticeable delay.

For example setting the label to green for 5 selected items of 45 items it seems to loop through all items instead of just the selected ones.

What do you see that makes you think that? It should only modify the selected files.
