Increasing distance required to initiate drag

I've been having issues with accidental dragging of files and folders (but usually folders). It takes an incredibly small distance for a drag operation to be initiated when an object is left clicked on, and I've accidentally moved folders before, which is very annoying, especially when you don't know where they went.

Is there a way to adjust this in DO? I don't think there is. Is there some other workable solution, short of making my mouse cursor infuriatingly slow at all times?

That's a Windows setting. You can change it in the registry by editing the value of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\DragWidth and DragHeight. Log out and back in again for the change to take effect.

Thank you very much for that. I searched, but apparently not well enough.

Four pixels is a crazy-low threshold for dragging, especially considering typical modern desktop display resolutions (mine being 3440x1440).

Hmm, I wonder if we should be scaling that for DPI. What DPI setting do you have your display set to?

Do you feel like the threshold if you drag & drop in Explorer is higher?

Edit for people finding this thread in the future:

DPI scaling of the registry settings was added for Opus 12.10. From testing, Explorer does not seem to scale them, but Opus now does.

Since Microsoft ruined the UI for Windows settings, I can't see where the DPI setting is shown. It's "100%", which I take to mean "The default DPI we chose" but I don't know what that is. I can't find DPI listed anywhere.

I never use Explorer for FSO stuff. I checked really quickly before changing this setting, and it seemed about the same there.
