Index Mapped Network Drive

Trying to discover if it's possible to index a mapped network drive, or else index a share on a LAN drive. I've found a number of "work-around" solutions but nothing that is straight-forward enough at my comfort level of expertise. I'm getting ready to upgrade from Opus 10 and wondered if the newer version has any indexing/search features that would do the trick. Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Opus is not a search indexer but can use the Windows Search index if you ask it to find things via the Windows Search field (top-right of the default toolbars). (OTOH, if you ask it to use its internal Tools > Find Files functionality, that is not indexed.)

So this is more a question about Windows Search than Opus. From a quick search there are some possible ways to do it but I have not tried them myself and don't know which (if any) would work well. It'll also depend on the Windows version (possibly on both the client and server machines).

The Everything utility can map specified drives. Have a look at the File Lists section of the Everything help file. You can easily configure Everything to open Directory Opus from its right click context menu.

Regards, AB
