I have read a lot of things about the Keyboard mode and the Power mode, but nothings could help me, so here i am
My problem is that i always want to use the keyboard mode, whatever the view i choose, because i want to be able to view thumbnails while having the keyboard mode On. And if i select the Power Mode, i lose the thumbnails view.
I hope that you'll be able to help me, and that you understood me and my approximative english
the down arrow key never select anything, just focus a file, like in power mode
the space bar select files, and is able to select the first one, like in power mode
and this with details columns, icons or thumbnails in the lister.
For now, i can't use power mode because i can't view thumbnails or icons,
and i can't use details, icons or thumbnails views because the down arrow key lose the selection, and the space bar starts to select only from the next file (THIS part is hard to explain, grrrrr ).
What about check-box mode? I think that resolves your problem.
I suppose that you trying to made TC-like copy of DO. It's not good to downgrade program that much.
/me whistle
The best wine comes in old bottles, and some old things have to be kept
The check-box mode can be perfect to me, only if i can check the boxes, with the space bar...
Is it possible ?
Thanks for your help, Teefan and Leo
[quote="mykael"]The perfect view/mode for me, is :
the down arrow key never select anything, just focus a file, like in power mode

I think I know what you mean. We call that "toggle select" mode (or something like that).
There is no way to make the non-Power modes behave that way, however (as is standard with multi-select lists/grids in Windows), you can use these keys to achieve something similar:
Ctrl + Cursor Keys = Move the keyboard focus between files without changing the current selection.
Ctrl + Space = Select / De-Select the current file with keyboard focus, without changing the selection states of other files.
(The check-box mode other people mention is also worth checking out.)
If you're not seeing icons in Power mode, this must be turned off in your config:
The space bar check the box perfectly, i was wrong because i made a shortcut with the space bar, to try different thing, sorry
Ctrl + Cursors or Space are interesting too, but "dangerous" if i forget Ctrl, but thank you for this tip.
So checkboxes are perfect to me, thank you !
PS : DO is nearly perfect to me now, i miss only two things (not vital) :
MultiView with 64 bits Oracle Dll's (QuickView works but too expensive to me)
and a way to save my checkboxes states
When i will be more experienced, i will probably post again, thank you very much.
