What exactly is the purpose of the label field? I initially started using it like a bookmark for files that I had viewed vs not viewed. But then as I continued using it I had a drive go full and had to move my files to a new drive and quickly found that the label didn't follow the file. I found the configuration file and did a replace on it changing the drive name and all was fine but this isn't what I had expected when I began using the new field. Also, if you go to another machine that same label does not appear for the same networked file so not only is it local to the drive, directory and file name but also dependent on the computer you're viewing the file from. While I initially was excited to see the new capability I'm not sure exactly how one would use it with these limitations.
Labels let you highlight particular file/folder paths.
They don't follow files when renamed/moved, by design. (There are situations where both ways of working are desired; they happen to be designed for the situations where you might replace a file/folder with another one, and want the new one to have the highlight.)
Using tags or descriptions may be more suitable for what you want, as those can be set to follow the files around.
