Friends . . . please regard this as URGENT . . . the bug is quite annoying
This issue is now more than 6 months old.
I have done everything you asked me to do (logs, videos, delete items on favorites) and answered your questions.
Recently, an update caused the Favorites drop down list to immediately SHOW . . . but I reported that I could not access the folders . . . they are disabled . . . a lag of 5 seconds is needed before I can click on one to go to that folder. (Please review the video and you can see that the folders are enabled when the icons are refreshed).
This never happened before the major update sometime 6 or 7 months ago (sent by Jon Potter)
ALSO I suggested to use the Favorites Folder in the left panel and set it as a default. BUT it collapses each time I exit DOPUS. Is there a way of keeping it expanded?
Please do not delay responding to this issue.
Thanks
The delay looks like it's happening while waiting for the icons to be retrieved.
That normally happens on a background thread and shouldn't stop you clicking on things.
If the icons are being extracted from exe or dll files then the delay is probably being caused by antivirus, which will sometimes block the entire process (all threads) while one thread tries to access an exe/dll (even if it's just to read an icon out of it).
Icons stored on network drives could also be an issue, although I wouldn't expect them to cause what you're seeing.
Dear Leo
I thought you would say that . . . keep in mind the icons were there before the major update that caused this issue. No delay was there.
Secondly, there was a change in behavior after the last update . . . the drop down list would appear instantly . . . forget the icons . . . it is the folders that are not enabled . . . I would be happy to remove the icons for you but believe me . . . these two reasons I am giving you show that it has nothing to do with the icons.
Third reason . . . when I first reported the issue, the list was not dropping down instantly . . . it was not an issue of icons.
Please listen to a seasoned software man . . . I gave you a tip: something was changed in the last update . . . the list dropped down but the folders were not enabled . . . something was written in that update to cause that issue
I hope you can give this matter your kind attention
Thank you
The recent update could've changed when the delay occurs (after the menu opens instead of before it opens), but not the length of the delay. (At least if loading the icons is the cause.)
Something about the favorites (where their icons are coming from, or the folders they point to) is causing a delay. We can't work out what that is as we don't have your favorites or the things they point to. You'll need to narrow it down on your machine, unfortunately.
Dear Leo
It is disappointing that DOPUS is not responding to my issue.
Two main questions remain unanswered:
Why did the recent update fix the delay . . . but not the delay of enabling the folders. It is not a matter of icons. (Keep in mind that before last year's main update, there was NO DELAY either in the drop down list nor in the enabling).
I keep asking about the FAVORITES folder in the left panel. You taught me how to set the default through the lister and I did. BUT the folder on startup of DOPUS, is always collapsed. How to keep it expanded.
I hope these two issues would be resolves as I use the Favorites and I depend on them.
Many thanks
A separate issue: I wrote asking about installing DOPUS on my laptop to test the favorites issue. I asked you if I can install it given I have only 1 seat on my license. If not, if I uninstall DOPUS on my desktop and install it on my laptop, would that count as 1 license?
This is really hard to follow, which is partly why we're so slow to respond.
Please use one thread for each question, and stick to that. Don't post the same question in multiple threads or start posting things in private messages (unless they're actually private data that we've requested, like logs). If the information is spread out in different places it makes things very hard to follow.
And please don't add additional questions into a thread about something else. That makes it hard to keep track of what's even being discussed and what is and isn't solved.
I'm confused about what the issue actually is at this point. You say the last update fixed the delay, but also didn't fix the delay. In any case, it's very difficult for us to guess why your particular favorites list is causing a delay when we have no access to your machine. It's something you'll probably have to narrow down by editing the favorites list, or the icons the folders in it are using (especially if they are coming from .exe or .dll files which can trigger a virus scan when they're loaded, and which in turn can delay the entire process).
Dear Leo
I just noticed your note about my tickets being hard to follow.
Actually, the lag of the Favorites ICON and the non-expansion of the Favorites Folder are the same issue: how to use the favorites without a lag.
I think I reported that it was OK on my Laptop.
So, I think the best way is to use something like ANYDESK to see how this issue can happen on one device. And it is a joint problem: yours and mine, since it only happened after an update and it changed behavior after an update.
Thank you
Dear Leo
Even though you do not respond to my questions, I am writing to tell you that for some reason, I reinstalled Windows 10. The lag improved a lot but still not as good as before. I can live with it. Let us close this issue.
BUT I still want an answer from you on how to make DEFAULT LISTER keep the FAVORITES Folder in the left panel EXPANDED.
Thanks for paying this request your attention

For a while, I was writing about this lag . . . you click on the icon and it takes time to activate the favorite folders. THis started to happen after a major update around 1 year ago.
For some reason, I am on v13.11 . . . there is no significant lag anymore.
