This fix is for vista ....
Hey all. Been using DOPUS for a while and i love it so much - best thing since sliced bread. There were some things i wanted to improve tough. One of them was the fact that the largest icons are 32 pix in the large icons mode - however windows vista has such lovely large icons that go up to 256 pix so naturally i wanted to improve that ...
Now there is no way how to change the large icons mode in Dopus but when browsing my computer i noticed that the desktop and my computer icons are very different from the rest. Because Dopus extracts it's icons straight from windows, i figured that it is not Dopus that controls this but windows ... I also knew that the default shell icons in Vista are 32 pix.... So to the point - i thought that there has to be a switch that controls the size of icons in windows registry .....
after some searching i found this :
go to registry entry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics
there is a switch called Shell Icon Size - it should be 32 or 48 but you can edit that to whatever size you want (i don't know if non-standard sizes would work, but i tried 64, 96 and 128 pix and it was working fine .... )
remember - tinkering with your registry is not for beginners so carry this one out on your own risk .... and i am not responsible for anything you do to your computer ....
cheers
P.S. if you have dopus running when you carry out the changes, you should exit dopus and launch it again .... so it can build the icon cache form windows....
also things like live folders don't work and you can't extract thumbnails from images, you can do that in thumbnails or in tiles mode however...
let me know if this works for you too....
sorry if this has already been posted ...
