Periodically when I upgrade to a new version of Dopus I get an error after the upgrade and reboot. The problem just occurred again after the upgrade from 12.5 to 12.6. I now have I a library version at 12.5.0 but program and language versions at 12.6.0. I rebooted after the upgrade and got the error. I then downloaded the latest version off the website (file version 12.6.0.0) and installed that and rebooted. Still have the issue.
I had backed up my config so I can uninstall and reinstall and reload that. I have had to do that before... But thought this might be an opportunity to fix what seems like a problem with the installer. Running Win10 64bit. Let me know if you want to dig deeper or if I should just uninstall and reinstall.
It was described (similar) that Win10 has that modern hiber boot. Try to turn off computer while holding Shift after install (instead of restart). Or just hold power 5 seconds instead of reboot after installing Opus (not so nice method but still - Windows will made full boot instead of partial boot). My recommendation is turn off fast boot completely in Win10 - it can resolve some problems.
Hello Peter, thanks for responding. I have turned off Fast Boot in the BIOS and that did not change the problem in the least. Reinstalled Dopus twice afterwards and rebooted. Still the same library mismatch each time. Got another idea?
Thanks for clarifying. Turned Fast start off through Control Panel according to the article. Rebooted and verified that Fast start was turned off. Reinstalled Dopus and rebooted. That did not affect the problem. Still get the library mismatch.
Turned off all options in Norton Security (Silent Mode, Safe Surfing, Identity Safe, Live Update, Smart Firewall, and Taper protection) then rebooted. Reinstalled Dopus and rebooted. Still have the library mismatch.
Not an issue. I appreciate your trying to help, even if the problem is still there. I have had this issue for several Dopus updates, and I simply uninstalled and then reinstalled and applied my saved config to work around this. Thought it might be time to see if the problem can be identified and addressed.
Personally I don't think that your problem is related to AV software, but in case of Norton Security... It's probably worst AV software I heard of - as I remember my friend has this AV and this software can delete file without even asking you. And, what is more important, most of AV software works no matter if you disable some functions or not - you can just disable detection but not AV itself. If AV may be a problem, the only real solution is remove AV. Believe me - you'll have much less problems with potential viruses than with AV.
I had not previously linked my account with my registration code but have now remedied that. In his most recent reply, Peter indicated that he did not believe Norton was the problem but that my disabling it is not conclusive. I concur that the Norton service still loads unless the program is uninstalled. If you would like me to uninstall Norton, go offline, and do the upgrade again, I am willing. Or if there is something else you would like me to try, let me know. Thanks!
Windows Defender is another thing that can block new versions of DLLs it hasn't seen before from being written, although having another antivirus installed would usually disable that aspect of Defender.
If there are temporary files with unusual extensions (e.g. .dl_ or similar) in the Opus Program Files folder after rebooting then that would indicate Windows did not do the rename-on-reboot at all. That could be caused by changes to the registry being lost on reboot, which would be a deeper issue with Windows itself.
The system event log may also have some information.
Hello Leo. Windows Defender is installed but disabled. No temporary files with unusual extensions in my Opus directory structure. The System Windows logs had only one entry containing "dopus" and that was a restart after the initial upgrade attempt. There are entries in the Security Logs but these seemed to be Audit Success entries related to my user's group membership. There were entries in Application Logs, the most recent of which was regarding a Dopus crash in May before the upgrade. Here is that error report:

In any event, I have now uninstalled and reinstalled Dopus and then imported my backup. If you would like, I can contact you again if and when this problem occurs again. Thanks.
