License Manager repeatedly opens by itself

Recently, I've noticed that my License Manager repeatedly opens by itself sporadically any time that Directory Opus is open. I own a licensed copy (which reads: never expires) and have not exceeded the 2 computer limit installation.

Has anyone had a similar occurrence? Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I can understand why this might be a good feature to incorporate into a software application if someone's usage time was about to expire (if using in demo mode) but this is getting rather annoying.

System: Windows XP SP2
Computer: Gateway
File System: NTFS

It might be best to contact GPSoftware directly for this issue.

After examining this more thoroughly, I found that this was probably caused by something that got into my system while upgrading my security software application. I was connected to the Internet (during the final installation phase) and noticed that the firewall was not enabled. In that short time period something got in and wreaked havoc on my system one target being Directory Opus. I performed a system restore to get my system back to its former (stable) state.

Any idea what the name of the thing which caused the problem is, so we can tell anyone else who experiences this what to look for?

Unfortunately, even though I was able to note the symptoms that my computer exhibited while being invaded, it was virtually impossible to find the culprit using Symantec's Virus website. To make matters worse, their (lame) software product - Noton Internet Security - never indicated at all that my computer was under a foreign invasion or even remotely compromised during a typical system scan. That's why I decided it was best and much faster to resort to a system restore (in safe mode) to get my system up and running in the least amount of time.

The fact of the matter is, not once has my virus software ever detected any viruses, etc. on my system. I find most of these software applications to be useless despite companys' claims.
