Hi, my favorites list is limited to 5 entries. I can add more than 5 to the settings\preferences\favorites and recent\favorites list, but from the taskbar I can only see the first 5. If I reorder the list, then I see the reordered list, but still only the top 5. Win7x64, Opus 10.1.0.0.4570.x64. Any ideas? Richard (Leics UK).
When you say "taskbar" I assume you mean the Windows taskbar and the Jump List items? If so, there's no "intentional" limitation that I'm aware of - but I do recall someone here noting that new "layouts" weren't appearing for him unless he went into Preferences -> Favorites and Recent -> Jump List and toggled the layouts off and then back on again... maybe something siilar happens with favorites?
Try going into that page in Prefs, then toggle the favorites item OFF, Apply, toggle back ON again, apply... any change?
Windows itself places a limit on the number of items that can be added to a Jump List, so you may be running into that.
Applications don't have much control over it; they just ask Windows to add things and then the OS might add them or might throw them away, depending on what it decides to do.
Turning off some other Jump List items may free up slots and allow more of your Favorites into the list. There are also some 3rd party tools which increase the limit for all applications, although I don't know if there are drawbacks to doing that.
Hi, thanks for the quick respondos. I've just tried off-apply-on-apply as suggested by Steje, but no joy. I've also twiddled with the Windows dialog box for the taskbar and still no joy. (Yes, by task bar I mean the jump lists - sorry for not being clear). I think there is a registry tweak for the number of items on a jump list. Thanks.
Additional - I've found that in W7 Taskbar, you right click for Properties, then Start Menu tab, Customize button, then at the bottom there is "Number of recent items...Jump Lists" where you can set a maximum. Changed this to 50 but still no joy on the Opus Favorites - only 5 items displayed.
That only affects lists of "Recent Files" in the jump lists, which Opus doesn't use (and which Windows doesn't allow to be used for folders; only for files).
After toggling & applying (off-apply-on-apply) all settings in Favorites in Opus, and setting Recent Docs to 50 (from W7 Taskbar), deleting temporary files, then 2 reboots, it all works again. Maybe the Recent Docs was not important like you say (and you should know!) but I'll keep it at 50 for the moment. Thanks for the help - much appreciated.
I might be wrong. I thought there was a separate/hidden setting for it, but perhaps it applies to the whole list after all.
