I have a strange problem with the list view I use most of the time. When there are so many files or subdirectories in a directory that a horizontal scrollbar is shown, navigating to the second item in the second column, the fourth item in the third column, the sixth item in the fourth column etc. changes the view - a vertical scrollbar is shown, and the item that causes the change ist shown as last item in the column before instead of its original place. When I navigate to another item, the original view is restored again. Also, there's a difference between selecting one of these "special items" with the mouse or by using the cursor keys: If I use the mouse, there's only one column displayed as if the file names were extremely long, even if they aren't.
Some screenshots should demonstrate this (you can find them in the attached ZIP file):
[ul]
[li]dopus9113_previous_item.gif - shows the normal view, the item before the one that causes the problem is selected[/li]
[li]dopus9113_keyboard.gif - the view has changed, the "special item" has been selected using the cursor keys[/li]
[li]dopus9113_next_item.gif - the normal view again, the item below the one that causes the problem is selected[/li]
[li]dopus9113_mouse.gif - this happens when using the mouse for selecting the "special item"[/li][/ul]
There seem to be some prerequisites for this behavior:
[ul]
[li]My screen resolution is 1280 x 1024.[/li]
[li]I'm using the Linkman Toolbar (the toolbar shown at the very top of the screen on my screenshots).[/li]
[li]My Windows taskbar has been extended to two rows.[/li]
[li]DOpus is maximized.[/li]
[li]Folder Tabs are always displayed in DOpus.[/li]
[li]The number of toolbar rows in DOpus seems to be important too.[/li][/ul]
So this problem is probably hard to reproduce for someone else.
I'm not totally sure, but I think this little bug has been introduced with version 9.1.0.6 of DOpus (at least I didn't mention it before, and now it occurs all the time) and is still there in the actual version 9.1.1.3.
Is there any chance that this can be fixed in the next version? It's no big problem, but it's quite disturbing...
thank you very much for your answer and for testing this for me.
I don't have to uninstall or even close Linkman completely, I just have to hide the toolbar and everything is fine. But I'm working so much with this toolbar that I don't want to hide it...
The Linkman toolbar reduces the size of the Windows "viewport" just as extending the taskbar to two rows does, and I guess that's just the point. Hiding the toolbar solves the problem just as reducing the taskbar, hiding the Folder Tabs in DOpus or "de-maximizing" DOpus. So it seems to be the exact number of pixels DOpus has available for displaying the files and folders that causes the problem. And I can't do without any of these settings...
I guess I wouldn't have posted here if the problem existed since choosing these settings (DOpus uses some Explorer routines, and it could be that DOpus isn't the culprit that causes the problem). But not so long ago it worked perfectly - the problem seems to have been introduced with version 9.1.0.6 or some other recent version.
I've seen the same issue, and have now managed to reproduce it without any extra settings.
It's a case of resizing the Lister window so that it's just large enough to fit however many entries on (i.e. shrinking the vertical size slightly causes the last entry to shift into the next column).
At this point it's large enough to display the last entry, but not large enough to display the selection box around it. This means that selecting it causes a vertical scrollbar to appear, which seems to then mess up the scrolling altogether, causing things to pop up and down as you scroll through the list.
With your extra info I was able to reproduce the problem and I've sent a bug report to GPSoftware with all the details and a video showing what happens.
